WhatsApp in the desktop
Link WhatsApp locally, use it beside your work and configure notifications, sound and microphone access.
App version 0.7.934 · Updated
Get started
- Open WhatsApp using the icon at the top right of the desktop window.
- On your phone, choose WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices → Link a device and scan the displayed QR code.
- Configure notifications, message previews, sound and microphone access in the WhatsApp panel.
Local connection
The WhatsApp panel uses a local connection on this computer. Status identifies connecting, phone linking, connected locally or an interrupted connection. The login is not transferred to other computers as a shared WhatsApp sign-in.
You need your phone for initial pairing. This feature is included in the current Windows desktop; on other platforms, check the available app version and interface.
Panel and messages
Expand, reduce, close or reload the panel. The window icon displays unread messages. Notifications can appear inside IXIOM, and message previews have their own setting.
Closing hides the panel. Pause WhatsApp controls its active integration. For a disconnected session, use Reload or Retry and inspect the connection status.
Independent sounds and microphone
WhatsApp notification sounds have their own switch and volume, independent of general app sounds. Select a tone and use the test action to hear it.
The microphone switch permits microphone access for voice messages. Voice-message and video playback are separate from notification tones, so disabling notifications does not mute all WhatsApp audio.
